Privatisation doesn't automatically mean that the privatised company is immediately swallowed up by a powerful competitor. It depends who gets the controlling interest when the privation takes place and on the intentions of that majority shareholder.

I agree that the likes of A-B have enough cash to buy anything they choose to buy - but only if it's for sale.
