I have been researching beer social sites on the web that are geared towards beer lovers and home brewers. I have found a few, but please add to the list.

BeerJunction.com (http://www.beerjunction.com) - Handy for home brewers, or home brew clubs, or someone who really loves beer and wants to create a network of friends that love the same kind of beer. Add pictures, video, create blogs and much more.

BeerAdvocate.com (http://www.beeradvocate.com) - Cool site where you can create a profile and rate beers with others in the community.

RateBeer.com (http://www.ratebeer.com) - Very similiar concept as BeerAdvocate, but more members and a bigger beer database.

don't forget:

RealBeer.com - A great friendly website for those who drink beer, brew beer (optional), own a computer, and can type.

Out of the 4 or 5 sites I regularly visit realbeer.com has more of a community feel to it than the others. There's a lot less trashing of a person's opinion here than on most other sites.

Yea, just doing my research across the forums. I really want to know which beer social sites truely have the tools (adding pics and video, rating sys, etc) that the members like, so I can pick one and start some history.

I thought "beer social sites" was a euphemism for a tavern, bar, pub, etc.

Sounds like he's looking for the most tech advanced sites, not sites where the participants just interact comfortably, kind of like me and my neighbor-I don't know his last name but we have great conversation across the fence.

Sounds like you already know of the major ones out there that have subscriptions, accept advertising, etc., therefore having the $$ to offer more "tools". Whether you find those useful or not is up to you. Having fund$ and tools doesn't necessarily = a place you want to hang out.

I prefer a small private site where I can chat with a few dozen people whom I've gotten to know over the years.

Create accounts at all the sites, use 'em for a month and see which one feels best to you.
