Does anybody know if the amount of carbohydrate in a beer directly relates to the affect the alcohol has on you?

For example, when I drink Michelob Ultra, it seems that it takes longer to catch a buzz. And according to the alcohol reference tables, the alcohol by volume in Michelob Ultra is the same as other light beers.

I've always understood that the more calories you intake along with alcohol will tend to slow the absorption of the alcohol into your system. The low alcohol in a light beer is off-set by the low calories and carbs, thus giving you just as easy a buzz as a regular beer.

Why aren't you feeling the effects of the "Ultra?" Are you eating lots of snacks or bar appetizers along with the drinks? This would take the place of the carbs/calories the drink doesn't have and off-set the 4.2% ABV.

Of course, maybe you're just distracted by the total lack of flavor in the Ultra, and that is stunting any buzz? ;)
