Had my first blow out today. Walked by my fermentation room (aka: hall closet) to answer a call from nature and heard a squeeking coming from within. Good thing I keep a towel under the primary. Had a good 5" of kraussen. Well I grabed another airlock and didn't have time to make up a bit of sanitizer so I used rubbing alchohol to sterilize the inside and outside, I also put a few drops in the airlock water. Hope this don't hurt the beer.

I had a blowout during the primary a couple of days ago as well. Kinda funny story, woke up, went to check on the "baby" and discovered a major blowout. Cleaned up as best I could, re-attached the blowoff tube after cleaning it out and had some coffee. A half an hour later.....BOOOOM. Oh great, went back to the "baby's" room and found the stopper and blowoff tube across the room. Hmmm...tube looked clear. Cleaned it, reattached to see what the bubbling situation off the tube looked like. Hmmm....no bubbling. Tube doesn't look clogged. Then a squealing sound started at the stopper and as I reached for it to pull it out, I was too slow....BAM...krausen all over my face. The tube was, in fact, clogged. Talk about feeling silly! From now on it's the big, fat blowoff hose for me.

Sorry to laugh at your misfortune…but that has to be the best exploding blowoff story I have ever heard!

I use a nice 1.5” tube…that puppy never gets plugged!
