Ok, so here's the deal. I have 2 kegs left that are just about tapped and my brewery is completely torn down and being rebuilt.

In the meantime, I figure this is a good opportunity to expand my horizons. So tonight I will make a B double E double R-U-N and I was looking for input as to what to get. So far my list consists of:

1. Something new from Troegs (maybe the sunshine pils?)
2. SA Summer Ale
3. Spaten (either lager or oktoberfest if I can find it in brown bottles)

...and that's it. Any other suggestions? I'm trying to keep in the "light and refreshing" realm of things and I'm pretty much done trying anything in a green bottle no matter how good it's supposed to be or how well it has supposedly been handled.

Oh, and if my wife asks - I'm at the paint store.

I'm mostly through my 2nd sixtel of the Sunshine Pils. It has been a staple so far this summer. Versatile enough to satisfy most visitors even non beer geeks yet crisp, refreshing with a nice hop back to it. Enjoy it's sublties. Troegs makes great beers.

Bell's Oberon is a nice summer brew as well.

So I've heard. Unfortunately, I don't think Bell's distributes to NJ.

Troegs Sunshine Pils is a winner, get it if you can. The Brooklyn Pilsner or Summer beer are both excellent. It's hot, get some Allagash White. If you can get Sly Fox Pikeland Pils get that. It even comes in a can so you can have the macro experience with the micro taste! ;)

Heh... If I can't find it here I'll have to pick up a sixer next time I'm down in Harm City.

You should be able to get Sly Fox without a problem. The stores are starting to run out of Sunshine Pils, so that'll be tougher to land. A good Troegs backup is Hopback Amber, though any one of their line is great to me. I also agree with both Brooklyn suggestions. I really like the Summer Ale.
The Butternuts beers, also in cans, are decent with a lower pricetag. I've had the Heinneweiss and the Porkslap Pale. They also make an IPA, which I haven't had yet.
And back to Brooklyn for a second -- I really liked the Local 1 (reviews were mixed, but everyone I shared it with said it was a winner). And there's that Schneider-Brooklyn collaboration out and about...

I saw the sunshine pils on the shelf last week... hmm. Maybe I'll just duck on over there now. Nobody will ever know...

Go for a nice local Hefeweizen.

Done deal - They have plenty of the sunshine pils at super saver on 22 in Somerville, FYI. Also picked up some Riverhorse and a sixer of Porkslap. They had cans of SlyFox, but they were looking fairly abused.

Thanks for the input, guys!

I was going to say something in the weizen catagory. I remember Spaten being very tasty.

edit:

Nevermind, you ran already

I would have ignored your advice anyway, so it's OK :D

Seriously, I already have some wit squirreled away and I was mostly looking for some lagers this time around. As for the Spaten, I remember trying it some years back, but I just can't seem to find the stuff in brown bottles around here. And like I said, I've started to boycott green bottles entirely just on principle.

I completely understand. I have drunk light-struck beer before and its not pretty.

As far as I can recall, I have had exactly ONE beer from a green bottle that wasn't skunked. One. I don't like those odds.

Supersaver? That's my regular stop. Where do you call home, Nate?

Good to know about the Sunshine. They either got more or had it hidden, I thought I was taking one of the last cases a couple of weeks ago.

Bradley Gardens (B'water), but I work in Somerville on West End. The cases are on the right hand side of the craft beer aisle as you walk to the back of the store, about 1/3 of the way in. 6 cases by my count.

I love the selection there but their organizational system mystifies me. I also love the fact that it's next to the Post hardware... "Gotta run out to the hardware store, honey!"

EDIT: Shit, it's past 5 on a friday. Yabba Dabba Doo! I am outta here!

Never tried it, but I figure I should at least try to support my local sheriff.
