View Full Version : The toughest question you'll ever be asked

What is your favorite beer? I know, I know. Impossible right? The question is simple though. If you were only allowed to have one beer for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
If you must, you can break it down by "type" (i.e. favorite pilsner, IPA, stout, etc....).
I can't really offer my own opinion, as i've only really had 3 or 4 different micro's yet. But my favorite so far is the brooklyn summer ale that i have on tap right now.
So there it is. I dare you to try and answer this question.

This changes with availability, but right now I'd say the plain porter at the Porterhouse in Dublin. I had a few sessions on this brew, and didn't grow tired of it at all. Plus there's a really good feeling to be had in supporting a local brewpub (and from hanging in that local brewpub) that Guinness/Diagio will never offer.
Not impossible. Easy in fact. Mine!

Coo... Just kidding.
It's hard to pick a favorite, obviously. But of all that I've tried so far (and excluding my own due to it having the unfair advantage of being the best in the world) I would say Sam Adams Boston Ale.
Hear me out. I'm not really answering the question as asked, because it's too difficult. But if you put a gun to my head and made me pick one (and only one) beer that I could have for the rest of my life, I would say Sam. Primarily because it's interesting and versitile, and I never seem to get tired of it. I'm sure there are others in the same category that are better, but either I haven't tried them yet or I can't remember them clearly enough.

I'll take the favorites of each type.
Porter-Edmund Fitzgerald Porter
Stout-Young's Double Chocolate Stout
Imeperial Stout-Siberian Nights
Pilsner-Penn Pils
Ale-Belhaven Scottish Ale
I'll leave IPA, Weizen, and Belgians blank as I'm not really into those styles.

For me it is about style and season.
Being in Texas in the Summer it is about light beers.
So I drink mostly Kolsch in the summer. If I had to narrow it down to one it would be Pyramid's Curveball. Though Shiner's Kolsch and St. Arnold's Lawnmower would both come in for a close second.
In the Winter when things start to cool off, I drink more Porters and Stouts. Murphy's being the stout of choice.
Having said all that, I would much rather drink a light beer in the winter than a heavy beer in the summer. So if I can only choose one beer to drink it would be the Curveball. But since Pyramid doesn't make that year round, I have no answer.

Man I hate this questions. I'll go with Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted (cask).
BTW Tex nice chips. Are you one Chiptalk? I've got custom ASMs (and NJs/BCCs) myself.

Can't answer this question, don't have a favorite - too many I like out there these days.

I have the correct answer for this question. Well, truth be told is I have two correct answers.
The first is the beer in front of me. The second would be the next beer to be in front of me.

Penn Pilsner is excellent. I actually live in Pittsburgh when i'm not in school, have been to Penn Brewery many times. If you haven't been there, you should definitely make the trip. The beer is excellent, and the food is fantastic to match.

The wife and I were just there before the 4th weekend. Awesome place! I had spent 2 years in Germany and the way that the outside eating area is setup reminded me so much of Ger. it wasn't funny. Although they didn't have Penn Dark on draught when we were there.

My wife agrees with you. She is a SOX fan. I on the other hand thinks other things than baseball go better with the next beer.

I get asked this question every once in a while. And I'm always digging through my head to answer, but Wort (once again) offers a simple response that is both witty and obnoxious - well played

I'm like Steveh. I don't have a single favorite. I have many. It depends on mood, season, environment and other stuff. I've never been able to list a single favorite.

Now I am not sure if I should be proud or sign up for charm school.

If you put a gun to my head and made me choose just one...
...go ahead and pull the trigger. I won't settle for just one. Far too many choices and I get bored easily.
I would have to say the only beer that I have never gotten bored with is Sierra Nevada pale ale. If this was the only beer that I could drink for the rest of my life I could live with it. Lee

I did, but that was at the height of the micro boom and everyone was making an SNPA clone -- the shelves were lined with them -- I burned out big.
Since then, I revisited the SNPA and (re)discovered what a great brew it is -- just like Pilsner Urquell or Spaten Oktoberfest, it's always great to return to the original.
