Yeah, BeerAdvocate Magazine founding subscribers are supposed to get a glass in a deal with Jim Koch and the Alström Bros.

well, I am testing it with a czechvar now.. just for fun. it does enchance the maltiness of the beer.
more malty, seems a little fuller, little less bite to it than compared to a "normal" glass.
I will have to research this more as the evening goes on.
I want to try a Get Real ESB in it next and see what it does.
funny too, the little booklet that came with it, was actually two booklets stapled together with one upside-down inside the other.. OOPS

You guys are really this excited over new glasses? I have so many I've started giving them away to clear out my cabinets.
Yeah, I know -- this is the "new wave," can't say I'm impressed too much, but I'll give it another try when I can. In the meantime, my old Willi Beckers are working just fine.

I understand that BA and All about Beer subscribers are getting them as well as AHA members. I wonder if you belong or subscribe to more than one will you get more than one package? LOL. I've gotten nothing yet. I do collect glassware. Have been for a long time. Last week I was given 5 of the DFH snifters at a DFH night at Rustico.

Likewise but these are appealing on two levels:
1) Interesting new design, never been seen before.
2) Arrived unexpectedly on my doorstep.
I think they'd be a good glass for judging at a homebrew comp.

Not particularly. We tend to use small glasses because our portions are small. There'd also be a problem with a category that has 10 or so entrants, multiplied by an average of 3 judges -- those glasses will really start crowding the table!
Most often I'll keep all the entrants lined up for sampling in-between -- unless it's a really bad entry.
Though I completely understand on the freebie nature, I just have too many glasses to get excited over another new one.

This glass in a tasting glass size would be mighty nice!

nope. mine are the AHA set.. as in I opened the package and went "ah ha! free glasses!" ;-)
I'll keep an open mind on them. I have a set of Riedel wine stems; night and day difference with those glasses when you have a reasonable wine to start with. even my non-wine-drinking redneck hillbilly neighbors, upon sampling the same wine in different glasses noticed the difference.
you need to pour one of these glasses and then a "normal" glass at the same time, same beer, then switch back n forth between the two. I can't say that there'll be a difference.. but hey! it's another reason to have a homebrew, what more could you ask for

How many people do you suppose made sure that the first time they were used was with an SA beer?

I drank a Hurricane Kitty and a Williamsburg Brewworks Porter last night. Neither were from one of the glasses. I rarely use logoed pints. Most go into the collection and I usually give any duplicates to my brother or neice who also collect glasses. I did get 5 nice DFH snifters last week. So I may add one of those to my rotation. I almost always just use my imperial nonics. I may give a beer a try in one of the SA glasses just to see if I can tell an appreciable difference. I do like the idea that they sent them out to the beer community like this though.

No, seriously I just don't particularly need 4 of them and that seems to be the only way to buy them from SA.

I went out to get a six of SA Pale Ale.
Great glass and a great gesture.

I did too - me and the GF went right out and bought a mixer 12 pack, and poured one of the BLs into a glass. Poured the other one into a standard nonic. There is an appreciable difference. I love my 4 pack of SA glasses, and shall use them for beers that remind me of SA brews (after all, they were designed to make Sam Adams taste more like Sam Adams). I, for one, think he did a stellar job.

This was from a post on DC-Beer. It may explain why some have not yet received their glasses.
This is from Gary Glass of AHA addressing why (from) Boston Beer Co why some of you may have not received your glasses, I'm sure it applies to the other groups as well ie BA & AAB. I hope this helps and you've got your glasses already or can clear it up.
Cheers,
Alan.

Subject: Samuel Adams Pint Glass Questions
Hi all,
We've received a number of questions regarding the Samuel Adams pint glasses that Boston Beer Company sent to members of the AHA. Please see the message below from Boston Beer Company:
>>>
We're more than happy to send glasses to AHA members we may have missed. Unfortunately, we may not have been able to verify a member's age (must be 21+ years old). Legal restrictions also prohibit us from sending the glasses to your members who live in California and Texas.
AHA members who did not receive their glasses can call The Boston Beer Company at 1-800-372-1131 to:
- Verify that they were a member of the AHA as of June 7, 2007
- Provide proof that that they don't live in California or Texas
- Provide proof that they are over the age of 21
<<<
The age verification system that Boston Beer Co used could not verify every member's age (meaning the verification system did not have an age associated with every member). They did not send glasses to AHA members for whom they could not verify an age. (Those AHA members who have not received glasses and who call the brewery, will be asked to verify their age, for example by faxing a copy of their valid drivers license.)
The names and addresses (no other information was included) of AHA members that was sent to Boston Beer was valid as of June 7, 2007, so no one joining after June 7 would have been included in this promotion.
Boston Beer Co is only able to send glasses to members with U.S. (except for Texas and California) addresses.
As this is a Boston Beer Co promotion and not an AHA program or benefit, please refer any questions regarding the glasses to Boston Beer Company.
Thanks,
Gary Glass

I can't imagine there's any way possible to verify BA or AAB subscribers' ages, but many of them have already received their glasses. Too bad about TX & CA. If I ever receive mine, maybe I'll give 'em to a deserving RealBeer member in one of those states.
