actually, my first brew ever was a supposed yuengling clone. it was a gift, and the giver did not know that lagers are not the best "first batch" brew. actually, i don't think i knew that at the time either- ignorance is bliss! nonetheless, i brewed away with this simple extract recipe. i don't think i let it lager very long, and i could only keep it around 50-55 degrees. but, it turned out very good, although it tasted more like a sam adams than a yuengling. heres the recipe:

* 5.4 lbs - Alexanders light extract syrup
* 1 oz - Perle hops (45 min)
* 1/2 oz - Perle hops (20 min)
* 1/2 oz - Perle hops (3 min)
* 2 pks - Superior dry lager yeast

simple but good... looking back at my notes, it looks like i had it in primary for about 10 days, then straight to bottles.... man, what a silly thing to do for a lager........ :)

I just visited the yuengling factory in pottsville Pa ( i only live about an hour away) and took their factory tour. While the tour guide was talking i sneaked into the hop cooler. The brewery uses cluster and centennial hops. I hope this gets you a little closer to your yuengling clone.

Do you work at CTU? or the FBI or the CIA? You are a brave soul to risk yourself for the good of many!

Annapolis Home brew has this kit:

Item #71591
Pennsylvania Lager Recipe Kit
American Premium Lager, 3.6% a.b.w., 4.5% a.b.v., color: amber.
Do you like Yuengling Lager? We developed Pennsylvania Lager in response to the incredible rise in popularity of this historic microbrew. This recipe has more color and flavor than the beers from the big American megabreweries. We use a special combination of barley malt extract, rice, and premium hops to make this recipe. If you brew Pennsylvania Lager and Pennsylvania Porter, you can combine them in the glass to make authentic Black & Tan. Real Black & Tan flavor is derived from the combination of a lager and an ale, so you must ferment two separate beers to get it right. You can also choose to combine the two beers at bottling time to create Black & Tan in each bottle.

Recipes are available in three different formulas. Choose from Malt Extract w/ Steeping Grains, Partial Mash, or All Grain. CLICK HERE to learn about the differences. If in doubt, you should probably get Malt Extract w/ Steeping Grains. The prices shown here are valid for mail order only. What makes our recipe kits so good?

Price: $26.99
