The big Beers are making a comeback, and just in time for Old Man Winter's last stand. I highly recomend, with some PA bias. Victory Storm king, an Imperial stout, and Victory's Old Horizontal Barleywine. Deep complex flavors and plenty of warmth on those cold winter nights. For those impared with west coast living, I recomend Sierra Nevada's Big Foot Barleywine. Yes sir Big Beers are Back!

beerswine,
I guess the "impared" need to chime in about big beers. Even though we don't have the luxary of bone chilling days and nights, some of us do know a thing or two about the heavyweights. Of course you would recommend Big Foot, those of us who have been enjoying it for some twenty years just couldn't hold onto our little secret any longer! I could care less about the alcohol, the flavor is what grabs me. I happen to love that chewy malt mouthfeel - balanced with a healthy dose of hops. Hell, I even drink it on those 70 degree winter evenings! I agree - big beers ARE back, but for me they never leave.
Would love to try some of the PA heavies you mention. I'll keep an eye out, even though I may have to order through the mail.

The best beer I have had in awhile is Bell's Expedition Stout. A truely exceptional beer.
