First batch o-mead. Smelled real good while heating (kept at 176 for like 2 hours). But very murky in primary. Who knows what the best clearing agent for mead is? when to use it? is it gelatin?

my understanding is that you do not need to clarify mead. It will clear on its own with time.

It'll clear from the top down -- it's actually pretty cool to watch -- but don't worry if it takes months-- it's just getting better!

KC Finings works pretty well. Yes, mead clears on it's own, but it could take years to do it. Other times it clears quickly. Who knows?

time is your friend with mead. Give it all the time it needs. When I make melomel though - I do force clear. I have been using Super-Kleer K.C. Even eith the finings I have noticed that it often takes a week or so to clear.
