Hello everyone. I'm new to the board but I've been brewing about a year now.
I'm just trying my first batch of wine and I racked into a third carboy due to the small amount of settlement in the bottom of the secondary...will this hurt the wine or does it matter?
I am probably being to picky due to the first batch willys.

Having never made wine I feel am qualified to answer your question. heheh
Seriously I don't know for sure, but my understanding is that wine is much easier to make (i.e., much harder to screw up) than brewing beer. You are probably just being compulsive.

A little bit of sediment shouldn't be a big deal. I am by no means an expert, though. I am doing wine on my own for the first time this year. I have helped a friend with his the previous 2 years.

I have been making mead and melomel for 2 years now. There is no reason to rack off your settiment every several months if you desire. I have read that you may want to top your carboy after racking though , although for the most part I have not bothered. Patience is the main thing though. YOU can enjoy it when it is done, and if you don't - before youpour it out, ask your friends what they think. I have made a batch that I don't like but others love. You never know.
