So I haven't tried the new Mich's...really don't plan on it. But after looking around quite a bit, I haven't been able to find out what kind of cactus they're using in beer. Living in the southeast (NOT many cacti around here) thats not a brew ingredient I've really considered. Except in a wierd tequila way.
Does anyone know what they're using?

I don't know for certain, but I would guess they are using agave of some sort. Though admittedly this is a succulent (member of the same family as aloe vera) and not precisely a cactus. Yes, I know if you don't live in a desert the distinctions don't necessarily make sense.
BTW, yes I do live in the desert Southwest.
Maybe a little Prickly Pear or a Saguaro Blossom Nectar was used.

My A-B distributor dropped of a 6 pack sampler of this including the Cactus, Tuscan Orange and some fruit flavor. I tried 1 sip and my assistant manager tried one sip and then the worst six pack I've ever tasted went down the drain. It was worse than I remember Old Milwauke tasting but that is a 20+ year old memory.
I told my A-B guy it sucked and he admitted he'd only found two stores to carry it.

I made a tequiza clone for my neighbor with agave syrup as an adjunct. You can pick it up in just about any health food place.

care to share your recipe? I was planning on making an all-malt, lime flavored blonde ale for an end-of-summer family trip to the beach.
