This is by far the best board that I post on. I learn a great deal from all of you and enjoy the discussions. Of course at my job of being a figurehead, I am somewhat bored at work and have a great deal of time to peruse the net. I know some other pretty good sites. I am looking for recommendations for other serious beer discussion boards to drop by. Oxford Bottled Beer Database has created a new one that seems to be primarily British participants but certainly not limited to the UK. It is just starting up. The format is remarkably similar to this board. If anyone wants to check it out the link is:

http://www.sparksdesigns.co.uk//obbdforum/index.php

Again, This forum is my favorite stop during my frequent internet travels and thanks to you all for the thought provoking discussions.

This is most certainly the best beer discussion board ive seen. How could it not be, all the nice people, and its not like its called fakebeer.com or commonbeer.com! Where else can I go where people actually know what lambic is? Id have to go all the way to Belgium. ;)

I'm with ray on this one==>

There is another board that I have started using - the Opinionated Beer Pages at http://www.tobp.com/.

Another US board that has, as does this one, a forum. The webmasters have asked me whether I would be good enough to write some beer reports for them and I have agreed so to do.

It's a tough job, of course, but somebody has to do it and I intend to start today with some Fuller's 1845 on draught - providing my local has it in. I've been trying since October 20!

Check out HBD.org It's primarily devoted to homebrewing but there is a wealth of knowledge there.

I go to http://forum.northernbrewer.com/ a lot, it is more geared towards homebrewing though. I also go to http://forums.homebrew.com/ a lot. Again, more of a homebrewing site.

I agree that this is the board I feel most "at home" with.

Lately i've had a decent amount of free time and a T-1 connection at work, and have enjoyed visiting here and talking with you all. I occasionally post on BA, too, but this one (maybe because I found this first) feels more like home!

Thanks, all!

That would be cool! A beer board I was on years ago used to have "attacks" where they would all meet at NYC or Philly for an evening of good beer drinking / pub crawling. A lot of those guys were on the East Coast. I met many of them in person at one of the Stoudt's beer fests. And of course I shared a few beers with Richard at the GBBF. I would be up for something like this.

It will be a true mark of the value of this board if anyone can find you something worth drinking in Orlando. At least we have a year to research, but I'm thinking you should bring along a couple of casks from England.

It will be the Association of British Travel Agents' (ABTA) annual convention and the travel industry is known for its ability to party - so beer is important.

There will certainly be some Guinness there as the Northern Irish Tourist Board always sets up an Irish Bar. So I won't die of thirst or Budweiser poisoning!

Theakston, You and I live in the same area and there are several others who do too. Maybe we should hit the Brickskeller for some of that cask ale on some Saturday evening. or possibly one of the local Brewpubs. Or a beer dinner at RFD

I'm up for the GBBF again Richard. And I plan on being over in early May. If I can convince my wife and son to take our winter vacation there I'll be there in February too.

Given enough time, the Wife and I would plan an overnighter in the DC area...all of those choices sound cool to me.

Aren't most of their gatherings on the east coast, spec. Boston? Or do they have groups set up around the country?

Most of the main festivals are hosted in Boston, since thats where Jason and Todd are from, but locals create there own gatherings, and the Brothers have some BA weekends around. It does seem like mostly the east coast, though...

I'd be up for that so would the missus - not this Saturday though we have to cheer on DC United at RFK (They have a foggy bottom stand)

RFD is good for beer but the food is not so good -- I've had most of the menu over the course of the Smithsonian beer series and the burgers were OK.

There are plenty of other good options for food in the area or even a crawl involving RFD, Disctrict Chophouse, Cap city(s), Gordon Biersch, Harvards etc.

(A few of us did that in July to celebrate American beer month. The lead guy was holding a placard so that people who were planning to hook up with us could find us easily. Tourists assumed we were protesting something!)

Let's plan on something....before the holidays?

Threecb & Theakston, My calander, like yours is very full this season. (Unfortunately!) I have those Cleint Christmas parties (strictly politically expedient for me to attend) and Family events. Might be good to wait until early in the new year. But I definitly would enjoy doing this.

Probably a wise move to wait until '04...as it gets nearer, we'll resurrect this thread.

Are you familiar with Usenet (newsgroups ?) I think there is an alt.fan.beer newsgroup. You can do a search on Google for newsgroups.

Harp, I agree with all on your list - except maybe Water Street...are they still using extract in their recipes?

Oh, and don't forget Gray's.
