Two quick questions:

What do you suggest for a thermostat? I just need something that will work, nothing fancy.

Second, how about moisture control in the freezer? I figure i'll store bottled beer in there too, so there's a chance that the freezer gets opened a few times a day. Is there something that will absorb the moisture....like baking soda absorbs oders in a fridge?

I use a Johnson Controls digital temperature controller. It cost me about 50 bucks 2 years ago. You can get an analog one for $35 that will be more than good enough for keeping a kegerator cool.

As far as moisture control, it doesn't build up that much in mine. I just chip off the ice periodically, or if I ferment a lager, it melts by itself and I just let it go down the drain plug.

I give the whole thing a once-over with bleach once a year.

Which Johnson unit is the analog one, the A19? Which one, there seems to be several types of A19. Where's a good place to buy one pre-wired?

Also, i pick up my freezer tomorrow, but it's kenmore 7.2 cu ft, manual defrost. I haven't looked at it in person yet, does it have a drain plug?

There are zillions of places. Just Google for it and compare for your best deal.

I'd love to google it myself, i just need to know what i'm looking for. There seem to be TONS of different A19 models, and i dont know which one i need. For example, check out this site:

I'm just looking for something that is pre-wired and will do the job.

Well, the kegerator is up and running. No problems at all.

However, i do notice some water accumulating on the bottom, and dripping off the walls...although we HAVE been opening it up a lot to check everything out.

Nobody has any idea about moisture control? There has to be SOME kind of salt or something you can add to absorb the moisture and prevent mold.....doesn't there?

I think mine is an A19. It looks like the one in my link above.

If you're worried about all the condensation. Get a tub of Damp Rid.

I don't have my collar built yet, so I open my lid everytime I pour a beer. I just have my drain open at the bottom and wipe the sides with a dry towel.
