Hello all, I'll be heading to Cooperstown in July for the Belgian festival and I was trying to find out if there are any good liquor stores within reasonable distance of cooperstown. I hope to look for some beers that may not have made it to Massachusetts as of yet.
Thanks for any and all help.

Your best bet would probably be to find another rb'er and trade with them. I didn't see many beer stores, but then again, I got there kind of late on friday and took the most direct route out of town when I left on sunday.
I hope that you enjoy the festival. I had a blast last year.

Beer is not sold in liquor stores in NY. The convience stores and supermarkets will most likely have beers you can get in MA. Let me put a feeler out and see if I can find anything out for you. I can most likely get info on what distributors are puttin where down there.
Off the top of my head, your best bet migh be in downtown Cooperstown as they are a tourist town. You might find the prices to be a bit on the high side but more varied selection a they try to cater to out-of-towners.

You won't find a huge selection of micros, but you will probably find something you like. Locally, there are the Cooperstown Brewing and Butternuts Brewing (all in cans!?) options that you might not find in MA. There's Ommegang, but you probably already have that where you are. Otherwise, you can pick up a few of the more widely available micros at the General Store in Fly Creek (along with a few Syracuse offerings) or at Danny's on Main Street in Coop.
As draughts go, try Cooley's or The Pratt. Not a huge array of taps, locally we just don't have the population to support a full-blown beer bar.
There is an excellent beer store in Albany on Rt. 20 (Western Ave. Beverage, or somethig like that) that you might want to check out on your way in.
Enjoy your trip.

Yup.
If you're taking the Mass Pike (Rte. 90) west, you have to go through/by Albany. Try this place:

And if you want to take a roundabout way home, you can head south to Poughkeepsie to check out Half Time and then take Rte. 84 home.
