Recently, moved from Washington to Nevada. Living in Reno. Been to Brew Brothers, Great Basin (widely recommend) and headed to Rail City Brewing.

Outside of local area, where should I be drinking?

I know this is about a month after the original post, but I'm new.

There's a couple good breweries to the west of Reno. Head over the pass to Auburn, then head south to Placerville. Placerville brewing is a small brewpub with some really good beers, and some really great chicken strips. http://www.placervillebrewing.com/ My friend had the strips, I had the BBQ Tri Tip sandwich, all of it was good.

Then if you head east on 50 from Placerville, you should get to Apple Hill. Apple Hill is a huge association of orchards and farms. http://www.applehill.com/ In the middle of it is a very small brewery, Jack Russell Brewing. https://www.jackrussellbrewing.com No food here, just good beer. When I was there about a month ago they had a wonderful Apple Ale that was almost gone, so it's probably off the tap now, but the ESB was good as well. If you like fresh fruit, I would not miss driving around the orchards while you are there. I picked up some peaches I was going to try and use in beer, ended up eating them instead. :) Nothing like fresh, fresh fruit.

There is also a newer brewery on the pass in Truckee, but I have not been there yet. We're talking about visiting that one on the next trip to Reno.

And I have no idea if it is on these forums anywhere, but a handy tool I have found, http://beermapping.com. I have used that on every recent road trip or vacation I take. My next big trip I want to do, if I can get enough time off work and the money to do so, is a California beers and coasters tour, riding nearly all the roller coasters in California by day, drinking as many craft brews as possible by night.
