Clayton NM Homebrew Competition

To all that are interested in coming to enjoy and/or compete, there will be a holding of the second annual homebrew competition in Clayton NM on July 2nd 2007. I have spoken with the director of tourism, who will be coordinating the event and he informed me that the time has still not been decided but that it would probably start arround 12:00 M.S.T. and judging would be held arround 2:00 M.S.T. I was also informed that there will also be a chili cookoff and a horseshoe pitching contest.

The homebrew competition is open to anyone who wishes to enter as long as their 21 years of age or older. I will have more information in the next few days concerning entry fees and rules that apply. This competition is not a BJCP event.

I'll post more as I get it and answer any questions as quickly as I get answers.

The date I posted is wrong. The competition will be on July 1st 2007 which is on sunday.

The competition will start at 4:00 MST and judging will start arround 5:30

Entry fee is $5.00 for each style of beer. You can enter as many styles as you want. This competition will be mixed, meaning that all styles and brewing methods will compete against each other. There will be a prize for first place only which will be a clear etched glass beer mug with "First Place Clayton Homebrew Competition" or something simillar on it. In addition, a Mr. beer starter kit may or may not be given to the first place winner.

You may bring extra beer to the competition for tastings, but you must have at least 16 oz. of the beer(s) you enter saved back for the judges to taste.

This competition may be sponsored by Mr. Beer as it was last year but no word has been recieved for their sponsorship this year. That does not mean you have to brew with Mr. Beer in order to compete.

This is the second year Clayton willl have the event. The event coordinator informed me that so far only he and I will be competing. That means from last year to this year we are about five brewers short. So if you like brewing beer and have some to enter, come on dow to CLayton NM on Sunday, July 1st 2007.

I'll admit that we are off to a modest start with this event, but it is the hope of myself and a couple of other brewers that this thing will generate both education and interest in homebrewing.

I hope to see some realbeer friends there to compete and/or consume, but beware, I won 1st. place last year and I hope to do so again this year LOL... so Good Luck!!

I forgot to add that the event will be held at the Union County Fair Grounds. The event will be held indoors.
