Do I need to chill Chimay higher or lower than the German helles bier that I've been drinking for years? I usually bring the temp down to 44 to 48 F and serve it in a non frozen glass.

I was thinking that a Chimay should be served at about the same temp in a goblet style glass (I've gotten one with the brewery logo on it so I figure that would be the optimal experience.)

According to the Chimay site, 50 to 53.6 F.

Pick a "temp", pour, drink.
Too cold?
Wait 10 minutes.

Temperature is one area where some people really start to move away from beer geek to becoming something altogether worse.

Beer is meant to be drank and enjoyed. Worrying about a temperature that, once achieved, will soon pass as the beer continues to warm toward room temp is pointless.

FWIW, I enjoy many Belgian Tripels and some Barleywines a tad cooler than most. So be it.

Cheers!

the chimay bottle says 50 (I think). But, like newport, I keep all my beers in the same fridge and if the beer is too cold, I let it warm. Placing both hands around the beer glass can help speed up the warming if necessary.
