It would appear that I am not getting email notifications when users posts a response to threads I have posted and as a result subscribed to. An example of this is the current community brew thread. Or the Keg kettle thread in All grain, etc, etc, etc.

Am I the only one having this probloem?

Double check the Edit Options (Use 'Email Notification' by default? Using this option emails you whenever someone replies to a thread that you have participated in.) in your User Control Panel here at the site under User CP.

Thanks

edit: Another example is the 'Porter or Stout' thread in the Extract section. A response was made about an hour ago, but no notification sent ot me, despite the fact that I was getting them form this thread. I never unsubscribed.

Just another update, this is STILL an issue.

I had the opposite problem for a while. I decided that I didn't want 20 emails a day and turned them off. I'll still get a few on occasion and have no idea why.

I've redirected this thread into a larger coverage forum than the Homebrewing section.

I contacted Stan and he thinks Boern's troubles may be a symptom of the old software being used for RealBeer...and it may be time for a switch.

That said, he also explained that things could change considerably around here as far as site familiarity and recognition. All forums and past data would remain, the site navigation will just be considerably different and there will be a learning curve...

Stan said the format would be similar to Pro Brewer's (http://www.probrewer.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?forumid=29) forum.

I might have to start a poll in The Interest of Science forum, but sound off here first if you want to take steps to smoother running set up...and yes, no more red background.

as long as there is a "view new posts" function as there is now, I will be happy

I agree with Hogie on the View New Posts. BA did a drastic format change a couple of months ago and while it does have a few nice features such as the indented reply, overall it's a PITA to have to scroll thru all the posts to find the new ones.

Well I help run a couple websites/forums and if you are looking for new forum software I have had good luck with Invision Powerboard (http://www.invisionboard.com) and Simple Machines (http://www.simplemachines.org/). I haven't noticed any problems with the current software in use, but I haven't been posting as long as most people nor have I posted near as much. Anyways there are a couple suggestions if you are looking for new software. Cool thing about Invision Powerboard is you can set up a photo gallery if you want and each member can have his or her own blog on it as well. It is also RSS compliant which is nice. If you want to check out how we utilize you can go to my website www.bluemanlibrary.com and just click the community button.

I've had problems in the past with notifications however, I'm happy with it the way it currently is. I know Lew does not like the Red colors and therefore comes here less than he would normally.

Probrew's forum looks like something even I could figure out.
:D

I have to third Hogie & Corky's desire for a view new posts function.

That's the best vote of confidence I've heard yet!
