I am still new at brewing. On my first and second batch of beer there is some sediment in my beer once i bottle it. On the second batch i even ran it through cheesecloth to try and help reduce this problem from the first batch. Does anyone have a solution. Thanks in advance.

If the sediment is tan colored it is yeast and that is normal and good. If it is greenish is is probably hop flakes. Did you use whole or pellet hops? Whole hops are easier to screen out of the wort, in my experience. In fact the whole hops act as a filter bed in the bottom of the brew kettle as I transfer the wort to the primary fermenter.

As far as I know, the only way to get rid of all the sediment is to pump it through a real filter (not just a cheesecloth) and force carbonate (since there won't be any yeast left to do the job).

I get that all the time, that's yeast from bottle conditioning. There is nothing wrong with it. I don't know your procedures but using a secondary and a bottling bucket will help with the amount of yeast at the bottom of your bottles. If you already do those steps, then your only answer is to filter and force carbonate stated above.

You have to have yeast to carbonate so there will be some in the bottle.

The best way to minimize the amount is to secondary and cold condition the beer for at least a couple days near freezing temps (ie after the beer gets below 35, start the count on the couple days). Use a bottling bucket to make sure that all that yeast you've spent time waiting to drop doesn't end up back in the beer.

You'll gte better at getting less and less yeast n the bottom of your bottles. presently, I gte a ltiilte more than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but when I started...sheesh!

I don't know if it has anything to do with it or not (still really new myself) but my kauresen'd batch has had the least amout of sediment by far.
