I was at the Blue Leaf resturant in Oshawa and saw and advert on the table for Rickards White Ale. It was described at an unfiltered White Ale, made in the style of those comming from Belgium. They had a tasting a week prior which I missed, and when I asked for a pint, of course, sold out...
So. Has anyone out there tried this beer? I enjoy the Rickards line of beers, wish they still sold Rickards Gold in Ontario. It was replaced by Pale, which I like as well.
For those who have tried this beer, and have tried the Moslon Coors beer Blue Moon, which is brewed in Toronto and sold in the USA can anyone out there that has tried both claim they are one and the same? I was in the USA this year, Florida, and sampled Blue Moon. Nothing that special at all. When looking on the bottle I noticed it was brewed in Toronto. Rickards is brewed in Toronto as well, and I have heard through the grape vine that Richards White is Blue Moon packaged for Canada.
Sooooooo... A review? A comparison. Lets have some feedback.

I would say it is the same beer. Had some on tap back in March, still haven't seen it in bottles in SK, but I don't really care either way. I found it to be pretty dull, but I suppose it would be the best of the Molson products.

Hi Cattersley - long time since we've talked.
I was at the Oshawa Keg a few weeks back and they had Richards White on tap. Loved it! I've been drinking their Pale
Ale recently also. This weekend I bought a "tasters pack" which has 4 each of honey, red and white. Not as good out of a bottle ... but then, neither is the Red.
It is brewed as a clone to Hoegarten with barley, wheat, corriander and orange peel. At 5.6%, you wouldn't know it. It's a refreshing, light tasting summer beer which has got me thinking of going to www.homebrewersretail.com to purchase some malted wheat to brew some for the hot, dog days of summer!
(Obvious plug intended Lol!)

I had a few glasses of this at the Pub 101 (formerly Minglewoods) on the Market in Ottawa last week. TheKulman has described it quite well. I enjoyed it enough to go back for more. It was the best of a rather thin selection on tap.
I would also say that it is a fine refreshing summer beer. Not the top of its class, but perfectly acceptable. And cheaper than Stella or Hoegaarden.

I'm in Phoenix this week and my hotel has Fat Tire, Blue Moon and another micro (local) on tap. I will try the Blue Moon and compare/contrast it to Richards.
Cheers!

I have had the Rickards White on tap tonight at a poker tournament and I have no doupt in my mind that Blue Moon and R.W. are one and the same.
I thought Blue Moon to be nothing special to say the least, and I would say that the only minor difference between the two beers (other than a brand label) was that seeing as this was on tap and I had Blue Moon in the bottle, was that the Rickards White was not as sweet.
Overall very drinkable, but nothing special. Eventually when this beer makes it to bottle, I will give it one more chance...
Any more thoughts out there?

I had two Blue Moons two nights ago at Dinner. I didn't find it and Richards White to be one and the same.
I feel that the Blue Moon didn't have the orange peel and corriander to the same extent as the Richards. It was a nice light, summer beer, more a wheat beer (like grasshopper) than a Hoegarten clone.
Last night I went out to Four Peaks brew pub and had the Sunbru Kolsch and many Tilted Kilt (Scottish Heavy). Both were very good.
