Hey all just bottled my first mid batch tonight. Don't see why everyone dislikes bottling it ain't so bad...just gotta think to yourself "I'll be drinkin' this in about a week and a half!" This will be one of my last medium sized batches (2 gal) think I'm gonna do maybe 1 or two more...got some 5 gal equipment already earmarked at LHBS! Incidentaly the "Amber Ale" <--that's the name of the beer (pretty creative ain't I?) started life at 1.040 and is now sitting at 1.014, taste is a little on the sweet side, color is deep copper/tanned leather, alchohol bite is real soft(probably around 3% ABV), needs more bittering hops, but on the whole is a fairly good beer. Gonna bring one up to my LHBS for them to sample and tell me whut I done did wrong. I got 19 bottles out of two gallons! I thought I was gonna get about 12-13. All I can say is thank you for one-step! I like the fact that it is as close to an instant sanitizer as you can get (as long as there is no crud). As a bonus I also found out that one-step is also a pretty good lable remover. I had some OM bottles that I soaked and removed the factory lables and they still had the glue on them. After filling the bottles I rinsed them off in the pan of one-step and the glue just about fell off. Just wiped 'em off with a rag and they were sparkling new. Well now that I got my first session beer done time for my first big beer!

Maybe its just early and I've only had one cup of coffee yet, but I'm drawing a complete blank on "OM", what's that?

I figure you're right on the money with the number of bottles. You get about 50 bottles out of a 5-gallon batch, give or take, so 2/5*50=20.

If you're gonna make a big beer, move on up to 5-gallon batches, you'll want to put some back for a few months.

OM = Original Manufacturer, I'd wager

Sorry I was tired and thinking of bed. OM means Old Milwake (sp?)
