NEGOTIATING PAY AND PERKS
Free Beer
Anheuser-Busch
St. Louis
Each employee gets a monthly beer allowance of two cases. Plus they get a prepaid debit card which reloads in $50 increments four times a year, aimed at treating friends of employees to Anheuser-Busch products.
Who's eligible: Those of the company's 30,000 employees who are at least 21 and live in a state where free beer distribution is allowed
What it's worth: More than $480 per year, if an average case costs $20
What employees say: The tradition has kept employees happy for decades, but several states have taken legal issue and banned the perk within their borders.
What else they get: Free admission to Busch Entertainment parks, including Busch Gardens and SeaWorld

Seems reasonable. I think many breweries have similar perks. I remember reading about this American brewer living in Germany (his name escapes me at the moment) who was talking about his beer allowance which as I recall seemed nearly inhuman.
Wasn't there some controversy about the Coors happy hour a few years ago?

Second prize: 4 cases of "beer" per month.
Actually, I remember talking with a Sierra Nevada employee (who also happened to be a local Chico State college student) back in the late 90s, they were given their choice of 2 cases of beer as a monthly perk too. As I recall, this employee told me she didn't like beer and had about 6 cases piled up in her closet!

Remember what happens to the delivery guys if they are seen drinking someone elses beer.

I used to do some computer maintenance contract work at Philip Morris in Richmond - they gave their employees a pack of ciggies a day. They were in racks right next to the time clocks!
I'm guessing they probably don't do that anymore... I hated going there to work, the smell of raw tobacco made my physically ill.

Were they allowed to smoke in the building? I can't imagine the shape those computers would be in -- cigarette smoke can gum up the works but good.

Not in the computer room, but pretty much everywhere else in those days (early 80's).
I remember one customer who had a "no smoking past this point" sign in their computer room. Yeah, that worked.

i still remember the phillip morris atrium at virginia tech, it was a large study hall that is part of the economics bulding, and i'm pretty sure smoking was allowed in there until about 99 or 2000. Personally i'm shocked they ever stopped it seeing how phillip Morris appears to own the state legislature here.

. . . Not sure if 2 cases of A-B will keep my garden watered during the summer. . .

I have the feeling it may kill hops. Or at least drain all the flavor from them!
