I watched the documentary The American Brew last night. It was rolling along just fine, talking about the brewing in the early days of the colonies, lager's introduction in the 1800's, prohibition and the industry's long comeback from it. When it came time to talk about the craft and micro revolution, they glossed over it and that was the end of the movie.

I checked out the link and realized it's an A-B sponsored movie. Explains a lot. At least the interviews in the Extras section of the DVD were good and focused mainly on craft beer.

Does anyone know if there is an "uncut" version of this documentary that includes the micro and craft part of history?

I actually spoke to the director of this movie -- he had full, creative control. He had an hour to tell the whole history of beer, and even though craft beer is a growing trend, it's still a blip on the radar screen when it comes to the American History of beer.

As an aside, the DVD does include several extras, including a really interesting piece featuring Garrett Oliver called "The Cheese Wars.''
