I brewed my Xmas ale saturday. I have a funky hydrometer that uses a small nut on the bottom to expand the scale for considerably heavier starting gravities.
My initial reading was 1.140, temp adjusted to 1.142, and condering I was looking at a 15% to 16% ale if I did it right, I though I might try diluting the wort, and get a reading that way.
I took 1/2 cup of my hydromter sample and mixed with 1/2 cup of room temp R.O. water. The resulting diluted O.G. was 1.057, after temp correction.
So, I am assuming that I can double, and my O.G. was 1.114?
