I got my keg almost ready to do a boil, all I need is the weldless fittings. Here is what I plan on doing: Take my existing turkey fryer and put a spare 18" BBQ grate on top of it, then set the keg on top. I have attached pictures.
Let me know what you think. I guess the best way to find out is to just try it, but I dont have the fittings yet.

By the way, I guess that I am worried that the flame will be too far from the kettle to boil 10+ gallons. Its about 6-8 inches from the burner to the kettle, I think.

My keggle is too big for my burner too, so I do something similar. I just crank it up and let it rip. Looking at your picture, you've got more space between the flame and keg than I do though.
Can you cut that down?

I have pretty much the same set up and I just turn up the flame and can usually get it boiling in about 10 minutes for 5 gallon batches and 15 - 20 minutes for 10 gallon batches.

That was why I bought the grill, so I wouldnt have to just in case I wanted to fry a turkey with the original pot. But I guess it could still work for that.
Thanks, I never would have thought of cutting it down, even though it seems like the common sense type of thing to do.
