could i just turn off the co2

Turning off the co2 is not an instant solution. There's still enough pressure to pour a glass or two before it won't push any more beer through the lines. Then the pressure is too low to maintain carbonation and co2 comes out of solution to equalize the pressure. Then they can get another beer. Until the beer is completely flat. But if they are simple enough to be fooled by the co2 being shut off, you may be able to get away with disconnecting the beer line from the faucet. Quick and easy.

Toney's on the right track. Those faucet locks are expensive. A better idea may be to somehow lock the fridge and disconnect the beer line. I think constantly connecting and disconnecting the CO2 is going to lead to foaming issues. It's going to be hard to keep a determined college student from your beer, maybe you should just move out and get a place by yourself.

I think those locks should be good enough. Well maybe not in a group house with lots of strangers. They'll probably break them. Worth a try though. Let us know how it goes.

Being a former college student I ran into this problem also, we lived in the "cheap" college apartments where it seemed like everyone came and went especially during parties- they seemed to always involve everyone.
SORRY memories:p. Anyways I agree the best thing you can do is disconnect the beer line and lock the fridge, some of those faucet locks are built very cheap and break with hardly any effort, or you might have someone break your faucet trying to get it off.
hinges and locks.

yeh these are not the type to try to break stuff they want to steal and then when you notice its missing they go uhhhhh i dont know. Answer... can't move out rent is too good ha ha ha. i thought about putting a lock and hasp on the chest freezer. the only problem i have with that is i am scared of hitting a freon line.

Depending on your fridge design that should not be a problem so long as you stay around the fridge door.

There shoudn't be any coils at the top of the freezer body, nor any in the lid. Also most chest freezer already have locks on them.

not this one it is only a 5 cube ok so i should be able to put a hasp and master lock then. any one have ideas on where to put it (left, right front to the right to the left or center) pics at top link

For aesthetic reasons I'd go with one on each side. It'll be less visible and won't detract from the work you've done on the kegerator.

well i went to the wal-mart last night after work and found this (http://www.mclendons.com/img/products/N2/N206953.jpg) and put it dead center on the freezer. It looks like a funny toy chest to me, but it could of been worse. will take pics of it soon.

what you need to do is figure out how to turn it into a vending machine!. . .Let everybody else pay for the beer. . .

If you don't want to attach anything or drill into the unit, there's a simple fix.

Chain around unit, padlock. (Vertically). Run the chain through a bicycle tire tube so it won't scratch anything.

Give everybody in your dorm some beer from an infected batch and claim its one of your better homebrews. Drink some yourself, smile, and say "mmm that's good!"

Do what zoom suggests or put a stack of plastic cups near the tap that look clean but in the bottom of each one are a few drops of dried Visine. A couple of rival frats houses did that to one another when I was in school to ruin their party. The Dean took umbrage and ripped up one of the frat's charter. I didn't pledge to either house so was not affected.

What was the purpose of the Visine? To mark the cups to see if someone was drinking from them?

found it. http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/visine.asp

good lord, I thought I was a beer junkie. . .that kegbot looks like an awesome machine. . .I can see him going into business with it in the future.

However, he is walking on thin ice. . .regardless of all arguments, as soon as he starts accepting money for it, the ATF regards it as bootlegging. . . .and we all know uncle sams wrath when he doesn't get his precious tax dollars. . . . .

From what I can tell, they're grad students who still party like undergrads. If the cops show up, you took up the money before hand and used that to go get the keg...

As a member of the USM faculty, I'm afraid I am forced to confiscated your beer gear. Please see that both kegs are filled with well conditioned Irish stout, and deliver them to my office in Southern Hall. Extra credit will be given based on ABV%.

My identity shall remain as mystery; however, your are undoubtedly the namesake of His Honor, "SDale." Please deliver the stout by the end of the semester break to save the good name of such a fine family.

well i guess you will teach me not to use my real name on a forum. I am also sad to inform you that although there may be green beer consumed at my house once a year, i do not believe that an irish stout will ever be put into the kegerator ..... by the way what brings you to real beer.com

I'm just a relative newbie that has been sucked into the black hole of homebrewing fast and hard. I've benefited a great deal by those who share their knowledge and experience here.

We'll have to share a pint, one day: I have a batch of stout that I'm about to keg that WILL turned you to the dark side (though we won't be cracking that keg for a couple months). In the meantime, there's always the Keg & Barrel.

P.S. I'll give you a start on figuring who I am: Seafra [Shay'-fruh] is Irish/Gaelic for Jeffrey.

P.S.S. There's nothing Irish about green beer.

P.S.S.S. If you want to keep your buddies outa your brew, you're always welcome to store it in my garage. But, be warned, I'll turn it black and charge it with nitrous oxide.
