Hi all

First post here. I've been brewing for almost two years and have been brewing all-grain for a couple of months now. I am wondering how to carbonate a five gallon batch with DME. Up until now I have been force carbonating.

Thanks in advance

Wes

Welcome jeromeb. Boil about 1/2 cup of DME in a pint of water and just add it to the keg before you rack the beer. Then leave it at room temp for a couple of weeks, maybe 3. That's it. You'll have more yeast in the bottom of the keg than usual but that goes away fast.

Hey, that's pretty easy. Will dry hopping conflict with this?

I can't think of anything that would cause dry hopping (in the keg) to conflict with carbonation in the keg, unless you somehow manage to completely gum up the works with yeast and hops.

If you use whole hops and a stainless steel scrubby on the dip tube, it should work fine.

I said copper before but was thinking stainless steel. SS is better.

I use a hops bag when I dry hop in the keg, but I used pellets. From this summer on I'll have enough homegrown hops I'll be using whole leaf. I leave it in there the whole time I'm drinking the keg. The changes from week one to the end are amazing.
