View Full Version : Sankey half-barrels - worth the shipping cost?

I live in Georgia, have a friend in the Seattle area that has a number of sankey half-barrels (16 gallon) that he's willing to let me have if I pay shipping.

Anyone have any idea how much shipping would be across the country?

I have two corny kegs now, would using a couple of sankey kegs in addition to these be a serious pain?

If the shipping cost is reasonable I might ask for 3 or 4 of them, one to become my boiler and 2 for kegging, plus a spare.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

well, it depends how you define "serious". you'd need to get a commercial coupler ($20), I'd probably get the Keg Man conversion kit (a new ring that makes repeated removals of the spear easier), and then there's the matter of cleaning then out when you can't see inside.

I bought 3 half barrels kegs from Sabco three years ago, shipping was around $40 for all three... I have no idea what it is now though... get three of them, cut out all the lids, and go all grain...

My guess is that it's probably gonna cost way more in shipping than you'd pay buying locally. I'd check around with the scrap metal people in your area first. They tend to get ahold of Sankeys pretty often.
