Tomorrow is National Homebrew Day. Who's brewing? I was going to teach a buddy with a batch of Wife Beer, but we have to go to a birthday party so I'm going brew a Belgian wit in the morning and maybe work with him Sunday, or not. I may brew porter to rack onto my Get Real yeast cake.

My club's gonna be brewing a few batches in front of the LHBS. I'm not personally brewing but I'll be there cooking brats and sharing homebrew. Always a good time!

Was planning a big brewout at my house with some non brewing family and friends to show up and a few other brewers... but my two assistants flaked out on me last minute and it all kinda just fell through....... time to get rid of brewpartners because this type of thing happens to often... was really looking forward to it considering today is my birthday... was going to do a national homebrewday/birthday party....

happy birthday to you. Homebrewing is too much work for a birthday-emptying bottles of homebrew is the proper way to spend it.

I can remember back to when I turned 32 - my salad days! Anyway, I'm brewing an oatmeal stout that I intended to brew a couple weeks ago. I happened upon a free kit for a honey wheat beer, so I'd like to brew that as well. Every so often a kit falls in my lap, and I use it as an opportunity to experiment. This time, my plan is to make a 2.5 gallon batch out of this kit instead of 5 gallons. So, the OG should be around 1.100 (I guess its a 'wheat wine' ) and I'll add some extra bittering hops. This plan can change by tomorrow morning however.

dont know if I'll brew or not. SWMBO & her mom are going shopping all day. can't trust FIL to watch the kids for more than about 5 minutes..
besides that I don't have any water from the RO yet.

nearest homebrew club is brewing, but it's well over an hour drive...

we'll see what happens tho

My club is making a California common plus a lot of "inventory reduction" as we call it.

Will be a great day, no matter the weather. Slainte` everyone!

This year I told myself I was going to actually brew the first
saturday in May.
But once again. . .not going to happen. I'm scheduled to brew up a dark lager to be used as a wedding beer with a friend on the 19th though.

Just bottling a 10 gallon batch of APA. And tasting the first of my Get Real ESB. A good way to celebrate - with the fruits of one's labor. Mmmm.

Happy birthday Michael.

I bottled today, I got 10 12 oz bottles, 30 Grolsch botles, and one 17 oz plastic water bottle to watch for carbonation. Then I brewed my porter and kegged the other half of the Get Real ESB.
I used my Beergun to bottle today. I sanitized a keg, blew the StarSan out with CO2, and added the priming sugar. Then I racked the beer, and used the beergun. Each bottle was purged with CO2 then filled. It only took 30 minutes, but then Grolsch bottles are quick and easy.

On Sat. our club did a 'big brew' with 200 lbs of grain and got 110 to 120 gals of beer. You can see some pics. one of the members took at:

He has some other photos on there but you can get an idea about our set up.

Nice pictures. Who owned the big brew kettle?

The club now owns it along with the mash/lauter tun. Some fellow approached our club president in the late fall wanting to get rid of the kettle for some brew supplies(you don't want to know what his 'price' was) and the exchange took place.

It had 3 stubby legs on it that were removed by one of the club members that knows how to weld SS ahd he also made the burner stand.
