View Full Version : Looking for a Good Bavarian Weisse Recipe
Hey Guys, What's going on?
The very first batch (Nut Brown Ale) is just about finished. Got working on a Pumpkin Ale 2 nights ago. It's in the fermenter right now.
For the third batch, I'd like to do a Bavarian style Weisse Beer, and am curious if anyone has a recipe that they've brewed before, and has hit the mark.
Thanks,
Rich

Here's one...all grain...
5.00 lb Wheat Malt, Ger (2 SRM) Grain 55.6 %
4.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) Bel (3 SRM) Grain 44.4 %
0.50 oz Tettnang [4.4%] (60 min) Hops 8.3 IBU
0.50 oz Tettnang [4.4%] (30 min) Hops 6.4 IBU
1 Pkgs Weihenstephan Weizen (Wyeast Labs #3068) Yeast-Wheat
Its one of my favorites - needs a few weeks to smooth out completely but it tastes great.
Cheers!

Hmm, do you mean a Berliner Weisse (White), or a Bavarian Weizen (Wheat)? As far as I know, the Bavarians don't make a Weisse... and a Berliner Weisse is somewhat challenging, since you need raspberry syrup to really get it right.
I guess the Weizen. I wasn't sure of the difference, but I know it's the wheat beer that I'd like to brew. Thanks for pointing out the difference.
Brad,
Thanks for the recipe.
