How correct wil it be? I used the bottom of the kettle, it was wort mixed with trub. Can I trust that as a reading? I got 1.072 which puts me at 82% efficiency which would not be rediculous.

The trub is heavier and will boost the gravity reading until it settles. The bottom of the hydrometer should be above the trub.

we'll my reading was kind of in the middle of the trub. I pushed the hydrometer down a few times to get what I hoped was a more accurate reading.

Pushing a hydrometer down into the liquid, then letting it pop back up will also give you an off reading, due to the wort adhering to the glass and weighting it down. It's always best to very gently lower the hydrometer into the wort. And yes, I would definitely let the trub settle prior to taking a reading.

take a sample and let it sit for a couple hours before dropping the hydrometer in
