Note to self: I cannot kick through someone's shin-guards + shin bone with my soccer/running shoes on without structural damage, no matter how hard I kick,

Yeah, I broke my big toe tonight, which is now even bigger. I still think I could have done it without a shoe on because my toes could then flex high enough to be out of the way and I could strike with the ball of my foot. It also would have worked with my normal shoes on (steel toes, as I'm a bartender). Unfortunately, neither of those conditions applied tonight.

On the plus side, I did end up taking that guy out twice, one of which was when I broke my toe (and swept his leg out from under him) and one was instigated by him later in the game. The second was his attempt to play dirty, presumably as "revenge" for the play when I swept his leg out. His attempt at playing dirty ended up with him on the turf after my knee hit him in the head. Soccer players should not attempt to take out Irish football players, as we will drag them down to our level and beat them with experience :p

Hear hear ..Ill drink to that!...

Reminds me of last soccer season my stepdaughter(who plays a very mean sweeper)...had a run in with a girl...(lets just say this girl reminded me immediately of The Fridge)...now my SD isnt a little girl herself..well The Fridgette tries to go straight through her heading to the goal...only problem is my SD didnt move an inch...The collision was massive...it ended up with my SD looking down at a very surprised and upset (though not hurt too badly) girl!...My SD has a Freakin boot too...she has scored from midfield 4 times in the last two seasons!!!

My favorite indoor soccer move is to position myself as a defender so as to invite the "kick it into the wall, go around the inside and get the ball back on the rebound" move by the offense. Rather than move towards the ball as it goes into the wall, I take a step or two to the inside and stop. The first 3 or 4 times they try this, it inevitably results in my standing up and the offensive player sitting down on his rear.

Of course, sometimes they try to take it past me on the outside, right next to the wall. That usually isnt attempted more than once per game. :D

Doesn't sound like soccer to me.

Indoor soccer is a different game than normal soccer. The walls are about seven feet high, and above that is the net. As long as it hits the wall and not the net, it is considered inbounds. So you can use the walls to pass, shoot (although that is VERY rare as the distance is just too great), or pass to yourself. As a defender you can use them to trap the opposing player. It's almost like hockey in terms of using the boards.
