Has anyone tried to use a hand held drywall mixer attached to a cordless drill to stir up a mash? it seems that it might work.

I've started just recirculating instead of mixing. This way, by the time I get to lautering, my runoff is quite clear.

I've done it a few times. If you go to fast throws sh*t everywhere. Get use to it after a few times. Got to be to must of a hassel and went back to using a spoon.

That would mess up hitting your desired OG.

At the beginning I have tried that too.
It looked a smart thing to do. However quickly I gave up that idea. It turned out to be an idea that looks good only when you concieved, but bad when you implement it.
My hand armed with a heavy duty glove does a better job.
I like Hogie's idea better, but unfortunately it would not work for me, since Iam doing decocitons.

yep - you're definitely going to need a good stir when adding back a decoction
