Hello all,

I just moved to a new house, with a well. I found out through a water test that my water is to hard to make any lighter beers, such as a B. pilsner or veinna. Does anyone no how to get the hardness out of the water. I really don't want to start buying distilled water or spring water. Since I brew 10 gallons at a shot( All grain).

thanks

If you are an AG brewer, you can add acid to the mash and sparge water to get the right pH for conversion. You could also buy or make a still (for water purposes only ;))

If you are doing extract batches, don't worry about it.

Depending on what you have in your water it can also mess with the flavor of your beer. Hogie is right about adding acid to get the right pH, but there might be more you want to do. What is needed depends on what is in your water.
