View Full Version : Looking For Brews In Nebraska
Just returned from Germany where I spent 4 years. I was able to travel all through the EU trying/tasting literally hundreds of different brews and styles :) . I will be arriving in Nebraska (Omaha Area) in about 7 weeks and am looking for a place where I can get a variety of beers to try. I am looking for bottled beers that I can take home to drink at my leisure. I am not partial to any specific style so the possibilities can be endless.
I live in Lincoln, but work in Omaha. I know of good liquor/beer stores in Lincoln, but don't really know about Omaha. I will see what I can find in the next few weeks and let you know. Are flying in (Offutt or Eppley)? Overall you can't get a lot of micros in Nebraska, you get the some of the major stuff like Rogue, New Belgium, and Sierra Nevada.

Try this link from BeerAdvocate.com's BeerFly section. A few of Omaha's finest are sure to be included:

You can also try contacting the BeerFly guide for the area on BA.com (screenname is 'bditty187'). Welcome back and good luck in your search!
Cheers!

Sorry, the link failed. But it brings you to the BeerFly page where you can specify Omaha, NE and which type of beer establishments you are looking for. Should help in your quest.
Cheers!
I am actually going to be living in Bellevue so Lincoln, from what I understand, is not too far. I will be flying into the airport in Omaha and my family will pick me up to take me back to Bellevue. Any information you can get would be greatly appreciated.
As for the web sight, I will be trying that tonight to see what they have to offer.
BHy9,
Sorry I haven't gotten back on this thread in a while. I actually work in the Bellevue area, about a mile North of Offutt. So far from what I have found there are only a couple of liquor stores in the Bellevue area. They tend to stick with the standard stuff, Sierra Nevada, Boulevard, etc. I am working my way through the Omaha liquor stores list but have only made it to one so far. It actually advertised a nice selection of micros in the yellow pages. That nice selection turned about to be a pop cooler with standard stuff.
I am leaving work in a little bit and will hit two more stores and report back on Monday.
I have been on line looking at some of the web pages that are listed in The Magazine "ALL ABOUT BEER" and Pyramid beer says that they sell their items at a store called FINOCCHIARO WINE COMPANY INC. 4202 South 102nd Street, Omaha. I do not know if you tried this store yet but I thought I would send you what little I have found so far. Maybe this facility can offer some diversity as opposed to the standards. I will let you know if I find any others on line that say they offer a wide selection.
According to a web search on the company name it shows this facility as a distributor for the following: Pyramid, Sierra Nevada, Youngs(England), Bitburg(Germany), Portland Brewing, MacTarnahans, Mendocino, and Sapporo. Here is the address info again from the web,
Finocchiaro Wine Co., Inc.
4202 South 102nd Street
Omaha, NE 68217
Phone 402-331-2200, fax 402-331-4850
John Finocchiaro, President
I will be checking that place out this Friday.
Another great place I found was Cornhusker Beverage Supply. It is located at 85th and K St. They carry a large amount of foreign and domestic brews. It is the first place in the state that I found Fuller's Porter, which I quickly purchased. They also cared six packs of Spaten, Paulaner and other imports that I never heard of but will be trying soon. The staff seemed knowledgable and helpful and would probably try to get beers in that a customer requested.
