Well I am cooking a pretty standard Chilli Crab recipe. I found it in the Tiger beer website actually http://www.tigerbeer.co.uk/home.php?section=food#

there is a video recipe. But my wife doesn't drink lager and I know that ales are good with spicy food...sometimes.

So any advice would be welcome.

Ahh - that kind of chili. Hoppy (though not overly-hopped) Pale Ales go well with spicy food.

And, to continue a crusade, your wife may not drink "lager," but I'd be willing to bet she's never had a good lager. An EKU Pils or even a fresh Pilsner Urquell would be refreshing with Asian spiced food. I even enjoy Singha at our local Thai restaurant because it compliments rather than overpowers the flavor of the food.

Not sure where you're located and what you can find locally, but it might help others steer you in a good direction.

I agree with Steve. A Pale Ale or a good Lager. I also live in the land of the Chili Pepper, so I've had opportunity to try a few combinations.

A good lager would be easiest obviously as I do think the rice based Asian lagers like Tiger really complement spicy rice dices. But she really just doesn't drink lager. mmmm....I think you have given me enough to go on anyway. We shall experiment! If not maybe I will chose a different recipe from the website and let her drink wine!
