when I rack to my secondary I always have about 3-4 inches of headspace in my 5 gallon carboy. should I have any problems because of oxidation?

I don't see this as a problem. The beer is still giving off co2, co2 is heavier than air and creates a layer above the beer. You just have to be careful while moving the carboy and shaking it up too much.

I second that, I have had the same situation, no problems. Since the active ferment is done, there is no great need for a large amount of head space, not if you rack too soon and there is still active fermenting going on then that is a different story.
But if you rack at the right time you should have no problems
