I happend upon the liquor board website for the Yukon Territory.

I have complained about beer prices in Ontario, and have been looking online to other regions to see what there norms are prce wise.

I had a look at the prices they are paying in Whitehorse and my jaw dropped.

When I was kid, a 10$ six-pack was baught during a moment of instanity or and extreme special ocasion, and now the norm for some beers in Ontario is 12.50$, even Molson and Labatt are now 11.15$ per 6 pack.

Since the buying of Lakeport by Labatt, I can see the value brand section in Ontario going like the way of the Dodo in the next 5 years, so no I am getting to my point...

You think you had it bad...? Following the link below:

http://www.ylc.yk.ca/pdf/YLC-Pricebook-070104.pdf

This is the Jan/07 price list for the Yukon... and OH YES a 6 - pack of some beers are as high has nearly 15$ When I looked at these prices most of the selection of beers showed only the big boys Molson and Labatt with the except of Rolling Rock from Alberta, and the Yukon's own Yukon Brewery Company for there selection when buying suds.

The above link is what we are paying in Ontario. Beer like Grolsch and New Castle Brown which are selling here for a little over 12$ here in Ontario, are over 14$ in the Yukon.

When looking at the link for Canada's Brewers:

http://www.brewers.ca/EN/frames/enter_statistics.htm

You can see overall beer prices for big boy beers across the country as well as tax information, and even a study showing on average we are pay the third highest taxation rates in the world at around 52% depending on the province or territory you live in, only behind that of Norway(57%) and Finland (60%)!

On brewers.ca there are also links to every liquor control board website if anyone out there wants to do some research of there own.

Cheers Canada!

regards, cattersley.
