Hi Steve, and all who have been desperately trying to get ahold of me... seems Netscape/AOL/Beelzebub has decided to rewrite my preferences and won't let me back in. For the interim, please direct your messages to me here via private messaging while my wife tries to get this to work. Since I can't get into my email, I don't know when someone has sent me a message, but I'm going to do my level best to make sure that I check this forum a few times a day and clean out my inbox. Gentlemen, I think it's time for an idea that is FAR too long in coming.... REALBEER EMAIL! Wouldn't it be super spiffy to tell someone your email address was chazwicke@realbeer.com or something like that? There's GOT to be a way to do this....

As I have posted elesewhere, my system has failed and I am having to use webmail on my assistant's computer - fortunately we have two.

Isn't it amazing how we now depend on something that ten years ago most of us had never even heard of?

It's funny to think of how one would research a topic now and juxtapose it with 10 years ago. Encyclopedias, physical libraries, periodicals - it took so long to find useful information.

Quite so (and I'm back on line now). I used to visit my local library at least once a week for research; I don't think I've been there for a year or more now I have the Internet.

My son and I had a conversation about this just the other day. He has been tasked to write a small report (he picks te subject) and the first thing he wanted to do was jump on the internet. While I have no problem with the net as a resource, I grew up in the public library. So I took him to the local one (nice short walk from my door) and showed him how to use the card catalog (they still have one!) and get the books he would need for his subject. Once he had done that I let him use the net to verify andcross reference his information.

Well I like Richard do not know what I would do without my internet, I am trying to figure out how I survived when I didn't knwo what it was. :rolleyes:

My netscape email is back up now too. It was horrible not to have access to my correspondence. It was even worse because I had some items that I bought on ebay (another bad habit) and was waiting to hear from the sellers. At any rate. things appear to be back up and running. I could not live with out my computer and the internet. Sad but true.
