No i dont think i would bid on that i'm afraid it might be the ATF selling it. Also i noticed the high bidder kept thier ID private.:D

He quite clearly states
"FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY"
so he's covered.
Then he goes ahead and gives detailed instructions on how to use it, hidden in the history lesson. I'd also be a bit worried about a visit from the ATF.

would be nice for making essential oils from plants. You could pack a lot of material into that pot.

I don't think there is any need to worry about "revenuers" taking concern as the price is likely more than the functional value, corresponding to this being a collectible.
It is an interesting bit of history. If it weren't for Jimmy Carter, we'd be in the same position as the man who used this originally. It brings me back to the question about what business the government has telling people what they can or can't cook for their own consumption and how they can justify extra and severe taxes on certain specific prepared food products.
