Beer in New Zealand

I am leaving Feb 23rd for 2 weeks on the South Island of New Zealand. Any recommendations on watering holes / breweries would be greatly appreciated !!!

Don't know much about New Zealand beer, other than Steinlager seems to be the most popular brew. I've drank it here in Ohio several times, and it's an easy light-bodied brew.

New Zealand wine, on the other hand...if you like grapefruit/citrus/puckery than sample some of their wonderful Sauvignon Blancs.
