anyone have any experience brewing beer for an event (i.e. friend's wedding)? I'd love to hear what the experience was like and if it's worth undertaking as a smallscale homebrewer...

besides that, did they even enjoy it? or were you left having to get them some lame "real" gift, because you ruined their "reception", because they wanted to have a "dry wedding" and you didn't "tell anyone you were bringing alcohol" which ended in you getting old uncle boozeface drunk enough to "steal the band's mic" and start singing "karma chameleon" by the culture club... sheesh! why does old uncle boozeface always have to ruin the party?

plus what about the logistics...

i mean i think we can all agree that kegging is easier in general, but did you find it easier to use bottles to avoid having to buy any extra dispensing equipment?
what other problems did you run into if any (transporting, etc.)?
i feel like event brewing may be a good experience for a young hopeful brewpub owner (any thoughts)?
how did you choose what styles of beer to make?

i'm sure i can think of a whole list of questions, but i won't bore everyone! thanks for any suggestions anyone can make!

slange,
dave

shouldn't be any more difficult than brewing for yourself. Kegging would be the way to go. It's hard to explain to EVERYONE that they should pour into a glass to avoid sediment. With a keg, just let it settle and pour out a pint to get the sediment before bringing it to the event and everyone will have clear, sediment-free glass of your brew

I did a Black Butte Porter clone and took it to a friend's house warming party. He brews as well, so everybody was happy.

I purchased rolling plastic garbage can, installed a corney key and the C02 equipment, adjusted the pressure, and buried it in 20 lbs of ice. Everything was nice and secure.

Voila, the hit of the party. Nobody touched one bottle of wine his wife purchasd for the party - like 20 or so.

LOL. It's all good.
