View Full Version : Unhappy with Flying Dog Brewery

I like their product, Flying Dog that is. I am unhappy with their lack of response to emails. I have sent them two and not beengiven any reply.

To be fair, one did not ask or I suppsoe require a response. Ie was a humorous and positive story about their beer. I would respond to such a thing myself. The second was a direct question and has not recieved a reply. It has been over a week. Two other breweries that i have sent questions two had an answer back to me in one business day or less. I may have to consider the future of Flying Dog for our after skate beers or not.

Fret and I have corresponded with FD in the past; he by phone, me by e-mail - about the same subject (bad beer being sold in Wisc.). We both received courteous and friendly responses. Don't be surprised if you hear from them sooner than later.

Isn't there a FD rep in our membership too?

on another note about them, i think the consistency of their beer has improved greatly lately, but that may be due to the operation of the east coast brewery and shorter shipping

As have I, by email that is. I bought some old Snake Dog at local supermarket, and they got back in touch with me regarding it, then sent me a replacement sixer and some other goodies. I agree that they will probably get back to you. If they don't in a few more days, call them and tell them the problem. It could be an email issue of which they are unaware.

Hey Wort - check this thread, the member I mentioned started it and there's a phone number for the brewery:

Hey! I'm so sorry to hear some of your bad experiences getting responses from us! We really do try our best to respond to all the emails we get - but some do get lost in the shuffle. It generally takes us 3-5 days to respond to an email since we do receive so many. Also, we just changed who replies to which emails - so right now it's a bit of a mess.

If you could shoot me an email at devon@flyingdogales.com, I'll shoot your email on to the correct person, and we'll try to get it sussed. And please resend the story - I'd like to read it!

I am impressed that you took the time to come to Realbeer and express your concern, thank you. Flying Dog has just regained some altitude on my respect list.

I have sent the story and my question to the link you provided.

Flying Dog Brewery has just hit a high note with me. They answered my question and offered suggestions on what to do.

They used to sponsor a hockey team and my story was hockey related. I told them how In Heat Wheat made me a better goalie for one game. They liked the story.

I now give a big tip of the hat to Flying Dog and their fine beers.

Thanks for steppin' up Dev, you folks at FD have a great product, great CS, and it's good to have you as a part of our community.

Now, can you get Steadman to join up..? :D

Haha! I would love for Ralph to join, too! That would be amazing! Maybe I'll ask him next time I talk to him...

And keep it coming with the stories/rants/complaints/compliments - whatever you wish. We love to get them - and it definitely gives me my jollies to get something fun in my inbox every once-in-a-while.

Thanks for drinkin' and caring!

Okay, here's a question - how long do you think the 750ml bottles of Gonzo might be cellared for? I'm guessing 5+ years - got one waiting for a very special time... :D

There were actually 3 different 750mL Gonzos - and they can all be cellared for a different amount of time.

The original release Gonzo (August 2005) can be cellared for 2-3 years. You can try it for longer - but really 3 years should be the max.

The whiskey-aged Gonzo (ESG January 2006-present) can be cellared for 2-4 years.

The brett Gonzo (ESG Brett January 2006-present) can also be cellared for 2-4 years.

I just cracked my bottle of original release Gonzo, and it was pretty spectacular - so I'm going to guess that it'll be nearing its peak in about 5-8 months.

Let me know what you find!

Thanks for the heads up - I had no idea! Guess I have one of the first ones; gonna have to pick a really cold night with nothing to do the next morning to pop the cork on this one! Very cool.

Do the 750's make it to PA/NJ? I'd love to get ahold of a few but have only seen the Gonzo in 12oz.

We're just about the release our Gonzo Wild Dog in 750s - the original 750 Gonzos have been sold out for about a year now. The Gonzo Wild Dog is Gonzo aged in Stranahan's whiskey barrels and is so good. Go ahead and request that your retailers ask for it from their distributors and we'll try to get some out there.

If there's no luck by mid-March, go ahead and drop me an email at devon@flyingdogales.com and we'll see what we can do!

A store I frequent has the Wild Dog Saison in 750's. Here is a link: http://www.oaktreebuyrite.com-a.googlepages.com/storepics031.jpg

I have a feeling that my local distro won't get it. I may come knocking

Try and request the Saison at your local retailer. Our distributor in LA is Glazer's - so they will probably be able to get it out to you.

doesn;t look like glazer's will carry it. They are pretty flaky about carrying beer unless they know it will sell or if the beer store will buy a pallet at a time
