i am currently making a tiered gravity system, the question i have is can i place my boil kettle under my hlt, it would be 19" from the hlt burner. i doubt there should be a problem. however if anyone has done something similar in the past there experience and knowledge would be appreciated. thnx. oh it is going to be made from 1"x1" angle iron and have a stainless grate over the burner. also how close can i place the burner to the bottom of the kegs?

I've had very good luck with my jet burners about 5" from the bottom of my converted kegs. I used 1" steel flat bar to mount the burner, which also allowed me to mount an ignitor, which is mega convenient... I can go take a pic if you'd like...

alrighty then, a few pics...

this is my HLT burner, mounted on the top center of my rig. my basic structural features are 1.5" steel tubing, drilled, with some fairly thin 1.5" angle to keep the kegs from moving. (I built this thing before I knew anyone who welded, so I bolted the entire thing together...) the burner is mounted on 1.5" flat bar, also drilled as you can see, bent up to place the burner about 5" from the bottom of my converted kegs. it's mounted on top of Durock, that concrete embedded sheetrock, which is waterproof and fireproof...

second pic is my boil kettle burner, on the left side of my rig. only difference really is the quantity of boiled over wort stuck everywhere, the wind shield, and the Durock on the side...

third pic, the whole thing (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p213/dannomn/IM002669.jpg).

since I was out taking pics, is my Fluke 10 channel digital thermometer, which I have three 8" thermocouples attached to. pic 3 (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p213/dannomn/IM002664.jpg)

fifth and sixth pics, my mill setup (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p213/dannomn/IM002666.jpg), next to my chest freezer (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p213/dannomn/IM002665.jpg), some empty kegs, and a couple of 20lb co2 tanks.

nope, they are separate taps. they look like this (http://rapidswholesale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=3T395&Category_Code=Shanks), I got them on ebay several years ago... I have four beers on tap, two sodas, and then two more picnic taps inside, one cider and another beer...

got it - I thought it was splitting one beer line in case you needed to pour two pints of one beer at once (which is overkill, but awesome)
