I was just curious if anybody here also does geocaching? Or if anybody has accidently stumbled across a cache? Geocaching is where people hide items, usually in a waterproof container, then give out the coordinates and others look for it. When they find it, they usually sign a log book and take something and leave something.

I got a gps for Christmas, and I thought that it would be a easy way to spend some time in the woods with my kids during daylight hours.

I would eventually like to see if there are any brewery caches out there. I may set a series of caches near some craft breweries/brew pubs, and load them with gift certificates for one beer.

Load one with a beer that ages well. Put it in a cool place.

Myself have never done it but first time I read about it I thought it was pretty cool. If I where to ever get a GPS setup I most probably would get into doing something like this

I've done a little of it when I got swmbo a gps a couple years ago. Come on up and visit, there are lots of caches here in town in some very nice parks. PM me and I can get you lots of info. There's even a geocaching club in town (Mt. Pleasant) and they hold intro parties in the summer to introduce ppl to caching, show them how to best use GPS etc.etc.

I started a few days ago and I found that I am already walking about 1 mile extra every day. My kids really enjoy it too.

I talked to a guy from the Michigan Geocaching group, and he said that a brew pub cache hasn't been done, and would probably be a big hit.

Paul, I've got a cousin that lives a bit north of Mt. Pleasant. Maybe the next time I go up, we can have a few pints and you can tell me where the good caches are.
