Just curious, I was wondering what the difference was between ordering typical wheat (unmalted) and torrified wheat? What difference will it make on the beer?
My LHBS Guru explained that you can use Torrified Wheat the same as malted cracked wheat. In other words you don't have to crack to the torrified wheat. Not sure if he is right, was kind of wondering myself.

Torrified wheat is wheat that has been pre-gelatinized and can be added directly to the mash without first going into a cereal cooker. It can be used in place of malted wheat without a major change in desired outcomes.
You can also get other grains in torrified versions.

Ahh, ok, thanks guys.
Another question I just thought of. Does wheat have its own enzymes, or must it also be mashed with another base malt?
