My kids gave me a single keg setup for Christmas last evening! It's a double regulator, aluminum 5lb CO2 tank setup. I'm going to be calling around today to find someone who'll fill the tank while I wait. Then I'll try the beer in my waaaaaaaaaaaaaay long secondary and see how it goes. If it looks/tastes good it's headed for the keg today.

Thanks! Minor setback today... only way I could possibly have a full tank is to swap this brand new one for a full one, no place that could do a "fill while you wait" was open. I would have traded at the LHBS, because they had a couple of very new looking aluminum 5 pounders, but wife was rather adamant that I should wait, as the kids had specifically said not to do a trade deal. I'm taking Weds. off anyway (haven't told my bosses yet), so I guess I'll go get it filled then. Gonna make a busy day into a darned busy one though!

If you buy a nice new tank from a LHBS or mail order company, you probably ought to have someone fill your existing tank. But I went down to the local Linde Gas and just bought a 20lb of CO2 from them. Since it started out as a swapped tank, it just doesn't matter if I swap it every time.

I've kept my same propane tank that I bought new too. When it starts to get beat up then I'll consider swapping it out. I'd just assume not come home and find out the tank isn't working so well.

I was gifted an old, ugly co2 tank and the testing date comes up in Feb. I'm looking for a place that swaps them out
