If we don't end up going out of town (O.C.) for New Years, the inlaws have said they'll watch the bairns for us NYE, so I was wondering what the best beer oriented bar/restaurant event going on is? I know the Reef is having $125 AYCD with apps. Anything else of note in the Metro area?

We might just put some bar hopping together to places that don't have pris fixe going on.

I think we are planning on doing a Sweetwater's new year. It's kind of late in the game to get any quality reservations at some of the high-end places - and Sweetwater just does call ahead seating - so you might wait awhile, but you can at least do it part of that at home or at another bar.

I had their holiday ale this weekend and can't wait to go back and get some more.

My wife got the latest addition of Zagat's, and the Sweetwater chain actually blew away a lot of the more noted DC area restaurants as far as customer satisfaction on food & service.

I'll be heading down to OC with some family. A low key evening.

we're doing a friends house party thing. Instead of champagne, I'm bringing a nice corked triple.

Is Sweetwater Metro accesible?

Not really -- the one in Merrifield is a pretty treacherous walk from the Metro, and it's your best shot.

Reef's also been sold out for a while now. There's a waiting list. Galaxy Hut and Bedrock are open for biz as usual.

ETA: I was enjoying myself at Birreria last night, and Greg told me that they're only open until 10 p.m. No reservations taken, of course, so you may want to make that an early stop.

I have been ringing the new year this was for many years now. Just have to decide what I want this year.
