We had some jarts when I was a kid. It was loads of fun until someone chucked one into the above ground pool and my dad had to patch the liner. Somehow the jarts mysteriously disappeared after that. No more dangerous than all the fireworks we had back then.

Really, they aren't any more dangerous than throwing horseshoes, or track-and-field javelins.

Yet, thanks to the miracle of the "stupidity is someone else's fault" lawsuit culture, they got banned all across the US as if they were a heinous threat to like and limb. This led to the real brilliant situation where in many places you could get an assault rifle but not a set of lawn darts. I'm not sure if they were ever banned here too, or if stores just stopped selling them, or what. But what a stupid ban.
